VISION / MISSION OF A.M.G. U.S.A.:
For Telluride, Colorado to become the "sister city" of AMG in Harrietville, Mount Hotham, Australia. The first step of our vision is to create a synergy between AMG Australia and AMG USA via a camp director's position, which will liaison between the two entities.
The second step is to help facilitate accessibility back and forth between Australia and the United States, more specifically Mount Hotham, Australia's premier ski resort, and Telluride, as it creates an opportunity for participants to experience a seasonal exchange between the two locations. In order to maximize the diversity of what each location has to offer, via the different seasons, AMG Australia and AMG USA hope to create opportunities for both Americans and Australians, with disabilities to fully experience the wealth of challenges that exist in both unique locations, which would normally be beyond their reach.
The third step is to establish contact with all groups that represent people with disabilities throughout the United States to create awareness of the opportunities for exchange between the AMG USA and AMG Australia. This awareness will be created via AMG's website, brochures and telemarketing efforts.
As has always been the case with AMG Australia, there will be an emphasis placed on the affordability of participating in these programs for anyone with disabilities. A prerequisite for participation will be to become a member of AMG International, this can be accomplished for a nominal annual fee. Once membership has been established, any individual, and their family and friends, can take advantage of the wealth of recreational opportunities that will be available to them in both camp locations. In order to address an individual's needs, there will be different tiers of membership .... Individual, family and friends. This philosophy encourages camaraderie for those that are participating in the program. It becomes an incredibly rewarding experience for all of those participating, not just the individual with the disability. This helps to ease the flow of all activities with able-bodied family and friends involved.
